Travel Journal - Rome ¦ RomaWhy Italy?An art history course gave me an unexplainable need to go to Italy, Florence in particular. It´s difficult to describe but I didn´t feel that I had a choice. The art that I studied became an obsession and photographing as much as I could, was a necessity. Before the final was given I had made reservations with a tour group. I chose a tour with no dinners. I wanted to have a free schedule during dinner so I could devote more time to photography and eat at local places. I stayed with the group until we arrived in Florence then went my own way until the plane trip back to the states. Culture Shock!!
When we finally arrived at the Rome airport after a very long trip, the terminal was filled with police carrying automatic weapons and police dogs. Actually the number of uniforms carrying automatic weapons all over Rome truly amazed me. I guess that is one of the reasons that I didn't see any trouble while I was there though. We stayed in the Grand Hotel Beverly Hills in Rome. Nice place and excellent breakfasts.
